Trip to Marmala Aruvi

It was a very sunny day in summer, and only the day before that, that we have decided for a trip to MARMALA ARUVI. It's me who has suggested about a one day trip. Then daddy talked about this place near Theekoi en route to Vagamon. It took only less than 1 hour from Pala to reach there.

We took a route where the car will go only upto a point and after that we had to walk for about 1 - 1.5 kilometers to the 'aruvi'(water-stream). Just because of curiosity, instead of directly going to marmala aruvi, we went up the road to see where it leads to. By car, it took less than 10 minutes before the road ends. It seemed like a deserted area except for a panshop(infact a 'madakkada'). We could see a small waterfall from there, but people near the panshop told us that it's nearly 2 kms walk to reach that waterfall(its name i couldn't remember now), and the path will be a very difficult one to cover. So we quit that thought and instead, having seen an 'aruvi' nearby, went there. It was a nice place and because no one else was there, we were able to enjoy there at its fullest. I took a nice bath in the fresh and cold water. But, when the sky went dark, we sensed it will rain and because it will be dangerous to be there at time of rain(as sudden rush of water will occur), we started from there to marmala aruvi.

It was an adventurous walk to marmala aruvi. There was no clear cut road and also we had to walk, across one of the branches of the 'aruvi', in a wooden hanging bridge(Dont get too much excited, it's a small bridge). One friend of mine was living nearby, and only because of him did we reach the destination, otherwise we would have stopped way before the waterfall, since there was not any clear walkway leading to the waterfall. Some part of the journey was through bushes and rocks. My parents and cousins were there along with me. Even my 4 yr old cousin seemed to enjoy the walk. I could hear the sound of waterfall in the distance.

Finally we reached the marmala aruvi. All through the walk we were thinking like, we shouldn't have come here, since we had to walk long distance in hilly path and through stony ground. But once we reached there, it was really worth the whole walk and difficulties. It did rain the day before we went, and so there was good fall there. It's really amazing to see such a wonderful place very near to my home town, and i feel ashamed for not being there before.

The best time to be there at marmala aruvi, is soon after a rain. And on a sunny day, if you are a little adventurous you can climb some rocks and cross the river, jumping from rock to rock. We in fact climbed the rocks and could see the whole waterfall right infront of us and right near us. Feeling the water drizzles, from the fall was really awesome. Below the fall, there is a large pool like area where you can swim. My friend told me that, in rainy season it's really dangerous to climb those rocks as there is great slippery. Anyway the time we went, seemed to be the perfect day to be there.
